New Palmyra Epigraphic Objects — launched 23 April 2026
23 April 2026
NPEO combines AI with photographs of Palmyrene inscriptions to produce open epigraphic results — launched 23 April 2026, drawing on unreleased field imagery, a March 2026 inscription release, and NEWPALMYRA's Flickr community archive.
The New Palmyra Epigraphic Objects (NPEO) Project is Born
23 April 2026 — NEWPALMYRA launched NPEO to connect AI with the photographic record of Palmyrene inscriptions.
NPEO is:
#ai × (photos of inscriptions) = results
We are building an open pipeline that connects machine-readable inscription data with the photographic record of Palmyra — field documentation, community contributions, and newly released corpora.
